From a young age, Alex Burgers has had an unparalleled architectural and construction education. His father, Robert Burgers, an architect of remarkable renown for over thirty years, designed some of the most architecturally iconic projects in West Vancouver, Vancouver and beyond; his mother, Marieke Burgers, has orchestrated the interior design of countless homes. Alex’s first project management role was in 1997, where he served as Project Manager on an architecturally challenging home in West Vancouver and then another in 2003. Both were designed and constructed by his parents.
Upon completion of these projects, Alex sought a mixture of adventure and experience in travelling and working abroad in Asia. He first accepted a one-year contract as the New Projects Development Manager for Emission Test Centre Hong Kong. This involved the challenging task of managing the installation of a new US$2 million exhaust emissions testing facility in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.
Alex eventually returned home to Vancouver and since 2005, he has successfully completed several multi-family projects, including “Dundarave Landing,” a $16 million, 24-unit concrete & wood frame project in West Vancouver.
Alex then further displayed his talents by working with Aragon Properties on a number of successful projects at the Port Royal Master Planned Community in the Queensborough area of New Westminster.
In 2012, Alex joined the respected ranks of Marcon Construction & Development as a Project Manager to complete The Dominion, Marcon’s first six-story wood frame project in New Westminster. This was followed by a challenging $2 million custom office renovation for Britco Structures in Langley, and then Regan’s Walk, a $10 million, 71-unit wood frame project in Coquitlam.
Having honed his project management skills and earning a stellar reputation as someone who gets the job done the right way, Alex launched his own consultancy in 2014, offering Project Management and Owner’s Representative Services for both single family custom homes and multi family condominium projects. With a passion for both design and construction, coupled with a deep seated pride in all aspects of his work, Alex greets this new business with much excitement and conviction.
